Dear Kylie,

I just wanted to write to let you know I really thank you for paving the way.

I left Australia in 2003 and moved to London as everyone I knew said this was the place to be to pursue my music.

In 2007 I performed in my first burlesque costume The Kylie designed by Glamour ‘n’ Glitz in Southhampton and Sapphira was born. This moment made a page in my book, Burlesque or Bust which I’d write many years later.

After 15 years of performing and producing shows, I’m please to have been asked by the British Burlesque Archive to submit material and I will be sending in these photos in my Kylie costume with accompanying press pieces.

I started my Australian burlesque act in the Aussie flag and loved it that you modelled the flag.

When I started the Ibiza Burlesque Festival they welcomed me at Pikes and so we dedicated our Ibiza Burlesque Festival 2021 Virtual Festival to you with each artist on our cast voting for their favourite Kylie song (Can't Get You Out Of My Head was the winner). Our artist Sassy La Showdoll performs to Locomotion.

I think you’re an amazing pioneer and I hope that one day we can sing a duet together. Any song would do but my new song Sanctuary is one I'd chose as it has lovely harmony section and it resonates with a message for anyone who has made their home in a foreign land.

I got to sing for your sister, Dannii, on Australia’s Got Talent and now my album and dance challenges to my own songs get great a response every year on World Burlesque Day.

A huge thanks to my main music producers who have made my musical dreams come true. My beloved spouse, Tonestepa, and our friend, Doc Moody. The support in both countries also has been incredible from APRA/AMCOS who have helped me navigate the music industry in Australia, Spain and the UK. Their meet ups enabled me to meet Samuel Dixon producer of Bound To You written by Sia sung by Xtina.

Happy Australia Day.

Yours with sparkle,

Sapphira
