At Orford House, the Coulsdon-based residential care home run by charity, Friends of the Elderly – which is celebrating its 120th Anniversary this year – the Care Team have been sprinkling fairy dust in preparation for the care home’s magical fairy-themed community party on Friday 20th June to celebrate this year’s Care Home Open Week.
On Friday 20th June from 1:30 p.m., the care home will be transformed into a mystical fantasy land that even Tinker Bell would be proud of. “To mark and celebrate this year’s Care Home Open Week, we wanted to host a fun, inclusive and accessible community event,” said Michelle Kennett, the Registered Manager at Orford House.
“The ‘fairy-tastical’ event will be a spellbinding and fun afternoon for all the residents, their families, loved ones and our local community. It will also give us the opportunity to open our doors and give visitors, prospective residents, respite guests and their families the chance to see and experience, first-hand, the wide range of great facilities on offer at the care home.”
“Ourmagical community Fairy-themed event will be a wonderfully inclusive and interactive afternoon for everyone,” added Mary Bradley, the care home’s Activities Coordinator. “Our beautiful grounds will be mystically transformed into a charmed fairyland, with lots of exciting things for everyone to take part in.
“There will be an array of fairy-themed activities and games taking place, including making Fairy Pegs, Fairy headdresses and a special prize for the best dressed girl or boy Fairy. We hope to see lots of Oberons, Terences, Sugar Plums, Titanias and Tinker Bells on 20th June, joining in with all the enchanting fun and games.”
“We’ll also have our delightfully delicious ice cream parlour open, which will be serving up scrumptious ice cream sundae cones which can be crowned with an array of different toppings including sprinkles, flakes, chocolate buttons and jellies – which we are sure everyone will enjoy,” added Michelle.
Michelle and the Care Team will also be on hand to give guided tours of Orford House to visitors, potential residents and respite guests. “The tours will take in all of Orford House’s facilities including all its spacious, elegant and airy rooms,”continued Michelle. “Visitors will be able to see the bright and cheerful communal areas – which are great for entertaining family and friends – and the cosy, relaxing lounge. Lucky visitors may also get a glimpse of deer roaming around our stunning woodlands and grounds which surround the care home as well.”
Members of Orford House’s kind and caring care team will also be on hand to answer any questions visitors may have and show how devoted they are to delivering high quality, bespoke care to each resident and respite guest.
“We are all looking forward to celebrating Care Home Open Week 2025 and hosting our magical community fairy-themed party. It will be a great opportunity to meet and engage with our local community and be able to demonstrate and showcase how the compassionate and professional care team here is devoted to supporting those they care for, every hour of every day,” concluded Michelle.
