Sarah Mather completes Northstone’s Cynefin development

Interior design consultant, Sarah Mather, has revealed the inspiration behind her stunning showhome designs at Cynefin, an exclusive housing development in Horwich.

Commissioned by property developer Northstone, Sarah has brought her unique vision to two luxury four-bedroom showhomes, drawing on the beauty of the surrounding West Pennine countryside as inspiration.

Cynefin offers a collection of 177 modern homes that balance style, sustainability, and convenience with open plan, luxury living. The development blends the elegance of modern Scandinavian design with the natural charm of the Lancashire landscape and the completed showhomes are now open to view.

Sarah Mather explained her approach to the project, saying: "Northstone and I share a passion for creating natural, inviting showhomes. The properties at Cynefin are beautifully designed, and my goal was to create environments where people could easily imagine themselves living, hopefully bringing to life every corner of the space in a creative and sometimes bold manner.

"Showhomes can often feel intimidating and untouchable, but these are relatable and engaging, like a 'mood board' coming to life. I've incorporated high street brands such as IKEA and H&M, which people can instantly recognise and connect with. As a result, visitors often ask where specific pieces are from, because the design truly resonates with them and for me, this means we hit the right mark with the end result."

The first showhome, Thirteen00, is a four-bedroom detached house designed with a young, active family in mind. It features a vibrant 'dopamine décor' theme full of joy, brighter colours and youthfulness. Every space has a purpose, with lots of wood and light, high ceilings and airy open spaces. The home's personality reflects the beautiful countryside around Horwich, with its scenic walks and panoramic views.

The second showhome, Thirteen85, is also a four-bedroom detached house, but is aimed at more established families. It includes a teenager's bedroom with a music theme that pays homage to local bands, showcasing Sarah's attention to local detail. The interior is filled with eclectic pieces inspired by restaurants, bars, and hotels from around the world, but softened for everyday living. The dining room, in particular, has a high-end feel, perfect for entertaining guests.

Anita Jolley, Sales and Marketing director at Northstone, said: "It's been an absolute dream working with Sarah, the showhomes are beautiful and she's brought our vision to life in a way that captures the natural essence of the surroundings and relaxed, modern living."
