The Didsbury-based housebuilder has stepped in to support a variety of charities and community groups in the areas in which it builds new homes.
Barratt Redrow Plc, the parent company of Barratt Homes, gives each employee two days to be used for volunteering each year. Staff members at Barratt Homes have been using their days wisely so far, and plan to keep this up throughout the course of 2025.
Among the causes supported was the leading developer’s charity of the year, Francis House Children’s Hospice, Macmillan and Andy’s Man Club for which a charity golf day and dinner was arranged. With a wide range of local companies and subcontractors involved throughout the day, a total of £35,500 was raised for these causes.
Barratt Homes’ employees also took part in a range of different activities throughout the year across its operational region. As well as sponsoring the event, a team of 20 runners took part in the Blackburn 10k, raising £4,020 for charity in the process.
Another 17 members of the housebuilder’s team took on the monumental task of cycling from London to Paris. Altogether, this activity raised £45,000 plus for Andy’s Man Club, a national men’s mental health charity.
Other activities that took place were volunteering with Macmillan, a book drive for The Book People that gifted 100 books to Lark Hill Primary School, volunteering at the Blackburn Carols for NSPCC, and numerous fundraising raffles throughout the year.
Rhys Nicholson, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Manchester, said: “Every year, we are inspired by the commitment of our colleagues using their volunteering days to make a difference for local charities and community groups, and the funding that has been raised is a magnificent achievement.
“In 2024, we were proud to have contributed 37 days of volunteering to the local communities, and we’re hopeful to see this number grow in 2025.”
