ForHousing and Salford City Council have started works to transform the central pedestrian square at the Little Hulton District Centre to create an improved and welcoming space for local residents to enjoy.

ForHousing and Salford City Council have started works at Little Hulton District Centre

The project has been made possible through a £250,000 grant secured by Salford City Council from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which ForHousing matched with an additional £250,000.

The improvements include enhanced landscaping, improved drainage, and upgrades to the design and layout of the pedestrianised square with Contor Limited leading as the project’s contractor.

Additionally, ForHousing will work with local community groups to explore opportunities for adding and maintaining new landscaped flower beds in the redesign.

Work on the project is already ongoing and is expected to be completed by March 2025.

Councillor Teresa Pepper, Lead Member for Skills and Work and Business Support at Salford City Council said:

“By improving the central pedestrian square, we aim to create a more welcoming and enjoyable environment for residents and visitors, while also encouraging greater footfall to support local businesses.

“This investment is a valuable addition for Little Hulton, and it’s a great example of how targeted funding and strong partnerships can make a real difference in our communities.”

Nigel Sedman, Executive Director of Homes at ForHousing said:

“At ForHousing, we’re dedicated to building stronger communities, and this project reflects our shared commitment with Salford City Council to making a positive impact across our neighbourhoods.

“By combining our expertise, resources, and passion for community-led initiatives, we’re ensuring that this transformation truly meets the needs of local people.”
