Manchester Accountancy Firm 'Counts' on Future Talent by Launching New Work Experience Programme

A leading Manchester accountancy firm has launched an innovative work experience programme aimed at equipping the next generation of number crunchers with the skills necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing industry.

Founder and CEO of TR Forensic Accountants Limited Tanzeel Rehman.

The ‘Counting on Careers’ programme is an unpaid scheme offering university students the chance to gain hands-on experience in forensic accounting, data analytics, cybersecurity, and other in-demand skills.

The programme, designed for students pursuing accounting or finance-related degrees that require work experience as part of the course, will provide invaluable insights into the real-world demands of the profession.

Tanzeel Rehman, CEO of TR Forensic Accountants, explained: “We’re excited to offer this opportunity to students and to play a role in developing the next generation of accounting professionals.

“As the financial sector continues to evolve with new challenges such as sustainability reporting and complex regulatory requirements, it’s vital that aspiring accountants gain exposure to the skills needed to succeed."

TR Forensic Accountants is regulated by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and handles a wide range of accounting services with a focus on specialist forensic accounting for legal practices undertaking civil and criminal cases.

Its cutting-edge forensic services have built a strong reputation by helping businesses navigate financial disputes, fraud investigations, and compliance challenges. The firm is known for its forward-thinking approach, blending traditional accounting practices with modern technology to deliver impactful solutions to clients in an ever-evolving landscape.

Tanzeel added: “The demand for specialised skills, particularly in areas like forensic accounting is rising.

“Through our ‘Counting on Careers’ programme, we aim to pass on our expertise, empowering students to meet the growing demands of clients who expect more than just tax reporting. Clients now seek strategic insights to drive their businesses forward.”

This initiative comes at a time when the accounting profession is under increasing pressure to adapt.

From tightening regulatory environments to clients requiring deeper business insights beyond standard financial reporting, the need for well-rounded, tech-savvy accountants has never been greater.

TR Forensic Accountants, which has grown steadily over the years by offering specialised services to clients in sectors such as banking, insurance, and legal services, continues to expand its team and services.

With the launch of this scheme, the firm is also signalling its commitment to the next generation of professionals and ensuring that they are prepared to face the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow’s financial world.

Tanzeel highlighted: “The future of accountancy lies in innovation and collaboration. By investing in young talent today, we are not just preparing them to meet client expectations - we’re preparing them to lead the profession into the future. Providing aspiring accountants with real-world experience is both a privilege and a responsibility.”

The work experience scheme is unpaid and to be eligible, students must be enrolled into a accountancy university course which requires work experience at a professional practice.
