Morgan Rees to headline comedy night at Contact Theatre

Expect a whole lot of raunch, big stage energy and hilarious storytelling as Welsh comedian Morgan Rees lands at Manchester’s Contact theatre to headline a night devoted to queer comedy on Wednesday, April 9.

Morgan Rees

The co-writer behind internet sensation Uncle Roger, who also writes for flagship shows like Mock The Week and The Great American Joke-Off, embarked on his sell-out debut UK tour last year. Known for his razor-sharp one-liners, Morgan will take to the stage at Contact for ‘ brew. haha Queer as F*ck Comedy Night’ alongside a line-up of in-demand talent and exciting new acts on the circuit.

The night will be MC’d by trans-male stand-up Ben Hodge, who is joined by lesbian comedian Louise Young, hot on the heels of her tour support for Alan Carr and Tom Allen. Completing the line-up are gay author and comedian Martin Dixon and award-winning musical comedian and self-proclaimed ‘bad tranny’, Jenny Hart – guaranteeing a night of queer joy and celebration

“Unashamedly and inclusively queer – explicit in places – raunchy, fast and fun”, is how  Morgan Rees describes his performance. “I’ll be cramming in as many jokes as possible, and I’ll be all over the stage”.

And what of his signature storytelling? “Bad one night stands, growing up queer in a Welsh working class town, coming out late, and starting my first relationship in my 30s – it’s all in there.”

“There’s an amazing queer community in Manchester”, Morgan said. “We’ve had to add extra dates to shows here in the past, the welcome was so incredible – so I’m looking forward to performing in the city again alongside these other phenomenal acts.”

Laughs aren’t the only thing on the menu. Courtesy of Manchester’s ‘brew’, the evening will serve up homemade Detroit-style pizzas and there’s a bar stocked with draft beers and ciders – or simply an extraordinary brew for those that prefer.
