Michael Jones Jeweller have a longstanding relationship with the theatre, having been the primary sponsor of Royal & Derngate’s Made in Northampton productions for the last eight years, as well as being an established Business Club partner. These Made in Northampton shows have brought the theatre national recognition, with productions such as The Pope which subsequently inspired a major film and the Olivier Award-winning The Worst Witch. This autumn the theatre will be staging a major new production of Hugh Whitemore’s acclaimed drama Breaking the Code, which will open in Northampton before touring the UK.
This continued investment by Michael Jones Jeweller reflects the importance of local business partners in helping Royal & Derngate to cement its place at the heart of Northampton and to maintain its position as the premiere arts venue for the local community.
Chris Smith, Development Manager at Royal & Derngate, said: “In these economically challenging times, we are so grateful for the generous support received from Michael Jones Jeweller and we look forward to building further on this partnership in years to come. Support from businesses like this is vital in helping us to create ground-breaking, brand-new theatre, here in Northamptonshire, for audiences of all ages to enjoy.”
Mark Conway, Director at Michael Jones, also added: “Michael Jones Jeweller is delighted to be able to support the Royal & Derngate theatre by continuing our sponsorship of the Made in Northampton season. We feel that Royal & Derngate is such an important part of the town centre and, by focusing on their home produced shows, Northampton and the local community will continue to benefit.”
