Tyler finds happiness and health through Slimming World journey

My name is Tyler and back in October 2024, I rejoined Slimming World for the second time. After years of trying to lose weight through fad diets and quick fixes, I had never reached the goal I so desperately wanted. I was mentally exhausted from constantly hating my appearance and battling negative thoughts about my body.

Before my weight loss transformed my life

Rejoining felt like the final straw — my last shot at making a real change. I took that first step and went along to the Ravensworth Road Methodist Church in Bulwell on a Friday morning with Tracy and never looked back! 

Fast forward to today, and I’m now at my goal weight — and I couldn't be happier. The small, sustainable changes I’ve made through Food Optimising have transformed not only my body but my confidence and self-image. It’s been so refreshing to learn how to be kinder to myself.

What I love most about Food Optimising is that nothing is off-limits. Everything can be enjoyed in moderation. Filling up on Free Foods has helped take away the guilt and the urge to constantly reach for high-syn options. But knowing I can have syns means there’s no longer that feeling of “missing out” or the need to binge — I can enjoy treats without jeopardising my progress.

I’ve dropped 3–4 dress sizes, going from a size 14 to an 8–10, and that change has had a huge impact on my mindset. I have no desire to return to my pre-Slimming World weight or to ever feel that way about myself again.

Some of the meals that have kept me on track and that I truly love include oat pancakes with fruit and fat-free Greek yogurt, protein bowls, fakeaways, hearty roast dinners, Slimming World potato and leek soup, jacket potatoes, and my all-time favourite — steak night!

My journey wasn’t just about losing weight — it was about reclaiming my fitness, too. Slimming World really encourages you to get moving, not just to help tone up as the weight comes off, but to support long-term weight loss and maintenance. Since shedding the pounds, I’ve seen huge improvements in my strength and stamina. I can now lift heavier weights than ever, run 5K without stopping, and my overall health — even my skin — has improved significantly. Movement has become a part of my everyday life. And that’s something I never thought I’d say.

Slimming World has genuinely changed my life. I’m finally living in a healthier body and with a healthier mindset. And for the first time in a long time, I truly feel like the best version of myself.
