Springtime sunshine and a craving for fresh air brought Bowbridge Court Care Home residents, family members, and a sprinkle of community spirit together for National Walk Day on Wednesday, April 2.
A small but spirited group set off down the road from Newark’s centre to the popular Sconce and Devon Park, basking in the season’s first warm rays. The group – three residents, two family members, and Annabel Shaw, Bowbridge Court Wellbeing Coordinator – made the most of the buzzing park scene.
With Rumbles Café on-site serving as the perfect pitstop, the walkers indulged in a well-deserved treat of creamy tubs of whippy ice cream drizzled with sauce.
“Absolutely lovely,” raved resident Pauline, summing up the mood of the day. “I really enjoyed the walk in the sun, and the ice creams were really tasty!”
Annabel Shaw, Bowbridge Court Wellbeing Coordinator, stated:
“The weather was on our side. The park was open and buzzing with lots of walkers, with and without dogs, and children playing in the fun zone. It was the perfect day to get out and enjoy!”
Sconce and Devon Park, just a stone’s throw from Newark’s centre, proved once again that it is a local gem. From the lively atmosphere to the sweet rewards at Rumbles Café, the outing was a highlight of the spring season for all involved.
