Woodland Festival returns to Thoresby Park for a weekend of family fun

Celebrating 11 years of crafts, nature, and family fun – 26th & 27th July 2025. The much-loved Woodland Festival is returning to Thoresby Park this summer eleventh year, promising a weekend of nature-inspired fun, traditional crafts, and family entertainment.

The Wild Man of the Woods

Taking place on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July 2025, from 10am to 4pm each day, the festival will once again bring a magical midsummer atmosphere to the grounds of Thoresby. Set across the lawns, courtyard and the historic Round House, it offers a relaxed, outdoor setting perfect for families, makers, and nature-lovers alike.

Visitors can look forward to a wide range of traditional crafts and hands-on experiences. From green woodworking and spoon carving to blacksmithing and forest school activities, the festival showcases the talents of makers inspired by the natural world.

There will be walk and sketch sessions with artist Martin Clarkson, learn how the forest works with Muji from Forest Medicine, and the chance to meet the Sheriff of Nottingham!

Children and adults alike can enjoy live storytelling, surprising woodland characters like the Wild Man of the Woods, and interactive performances. One of the highlights returning this year is the Sherwood Outlaws, offering thrilling archery experiences

The festival is organised by the Sherwood Forest Trust, a Nottinghamshire-based charity that works to conserve and celebrate the area’s ancient woodlands and rich local heritage. From tree planting and habitat restoration to educational programmes and community projects, the Trust plays a vital role in preserving the legacy of Sherwood for future generations.

Jessica Smith Launay, Organiser of the Sherwood Forest Trust Woodland Festival, said: “We’re so pleased to be returning to Thoresby this summer. The festival has such a warm, friendly atmosphere and there really is something for everyone – from crafts and creativity to legends and laughter. We hope lots of local families will join us for a proper summer weekend out.”

Entry to the festival is free, with parking available for £5 per vehicle for the full day
