Comprising a variety of delicious dishes and dining options, visitors can feast on Piatti Piccoli small plates which are perfect for shared dining, as well as fresh handmade pastas and a range of carefully crafted large plates which can be shared or enjoyed as a main.
Menu highlights include the Pampanella chicken, a Bar Gigi spin on a traditional barbecue pork dish from Campobasso, Molise, marinated in a regional dry spice rub and served with smoked potato and courgette ribbons. Diners can also indulge in the savoury Italian Maritozzi doughnut which features oxtail that is slow braised for six hours to achieve its rich, tender texture, and finished with a sweet oregano powder.
Explaining more about the new menu, Connor Robson, head chef at Bar Gigi, said: “This menu is really close to our hearts. We wanted to pay homage to the regions of Italy that often get overlooked on UK menus. Our dishes aren’t something you’ll find in just any Italian restaurant, and that’s intentional. We want to take people on a journey through Italy, one plate at a time, and celebrate the rich tapestry of flavours and traditions that make the country so special.
“Our ethos has always been about celebrating great food and people, not just creating something delicious, but creating an extra-special experience. Every dish has a story, whether it’s rooted in family memories, or inspired by time spent in different parts of Italy. We love the idea that a diner can sit down and taste something totally new but still feel that connection to Italian traditions.”
Known for its elevated, authentic take on Italian dining, Bar Gigi continues to set itself apart with a focus on fresh, handcrafted ingredients, and a boldly inventive approach to its seasonal menus.
Further standout dishes from the new menu include hand-rolled gnocchi served with taleggio cheese and a honey and sage infused crema; sea bream Barese served with potato and pecorino verde sauce, which has been inspired by the traditional bream dish from the region of Bari. Or, Agnolotti pasta which is stuffed with foraged wild garlic and ricotta, and served with a rosemary brown butter.
To finish, dessert lovers will have plenty of treats to choose from too. Options include a pistachio and olive oil cake featuring olive oil pressed from the Bar Gigi owners’ own family grove, as well as Fior di Latte gelato served with torched Italian meringue and a hazelnut crumb, a fresh take on an Italian household staple that’s been created to evoke the flavours of moreish Nutella. The team also have a selection of refreshing homemade sorbets on offer each day with flavours including bergamot, white peach and blood orange.
To celebrate the sunshine season, the outdoor terrace at Bar Gigi is now open, serving spritz and Spiedini skewers for diners looking to capture their own Italian summer.
Bar Gigi is located in the eye-catching 15th Century building at Flying Horse Walk, above clothes boutique Gigi Bottega.
