The glittering event took place on 1 June on the outdoor terrace at Binks Yard in the City, where KH Hair’s 200+ staff and VIP guests from Wella and ghd came together to celebrate the achievements of the Group’s 20 East Midlands salons.
The evening began with Group managing director, Darren Messias, acknowledging nine individuals for their long service to the company, before 24 awards were handed out to this year’s top salon teams and individuals.
Nottinghamshire’s Castle Gate salon topped the leader board with an impressive four visits to the stage to collect team awards for ‘Salon Highest Turnover’; ‘Salon Highest Retail’; ‘ghd Retail’ and one of two ‘Marketing’ awards (sponsored by Toast PR). Individuals recognised for their achievements were Steve McIntee (Individual Turnover and Individual Retail awards); and Amber Newton (Master Colour Expert award).
The salon’s co-director, Debbie McMenamin, who runs the salon with husband Sean says: “Words can hardly express how incredibly proud we are of each and every one of our team. “Winning seven awards is not just a milestone, it’s an achievement that reflects their talent, dedication, and unwavering commitment to excellence. It’s great that we are able to celebrate together at the awards night. Everyone had an amazing time, and we are so lucky to have the best team.”
The KH Hair Arnold team were also big winners on the night, picking up the ‘Salon Clients’ award; the 2nd of two ‘Marketing’ awards and taking to the stage for the 4th year in a row to pick up the hotly-contested ‘Image of the Year’ award – which they shared this year with KH Hair’s Long Eaton salon. Apprentice, Kyla Mickle-Surgey, came out top in the 1st Year training competition (sponsored by RDG Accounting).
The Group’s Sutton in Ashfield and Newark salons were also among this year’s winners, both collecting ‘Salon Colour’ awards. Donna Ball, from the Group’s Long Eaton head office, was also surprised with a ‘Special Achievement’ award.
After all the winners were revealed, guests were entertained by live band Electric Kicks, including Ultimate Bandeoke, which gave the brave the chance to unleash their inner pop stars by joining in! Food, drink and plenty of dancing topped off a great evening of recognition and celebration.
Group MD, Darren, says: “Our annual award ceremony is always an event our teams get really excited about. It’s the only time in the year that we get together as a whole company to celebrate the achievements of our salons and team members. I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to all our salon teams for their hard work, creativity, support and loyalty to the KH Hair family, and congratulate all our winners across Nottingham and the whole of the East Midlands.”
