Founded in 1989 by Dr and Mrs Kesari and led for more than three decades by their daughter, Anita Astle MBE, Wren Hall has grown from a small family-run home into an internationally recognised centre for outstanding dementia care.
Known for its relationship-led approach and commitment to empowering those it supports, the home, in Selston, Nottinghamshire, has earned an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating and a host of accolades, including three-time “Care Home of the Year”.
Alongside the nursing home, Little Wrens Nursery and Preschool – an integral part of Wren Hall’s unique intergenerational care model – also forms part of the acquisition.
Anita Astle MBE, who will continue in her role as registered manager during the transition, said:
“Wren Hall began as a dream in my parents’ back garden, and over the past 35 years, it has grown into a vibrant, loving community rooted in dignity, independence and inclusion.
“Every award and achievement has only ever been possible because of the extraordinary dedication of team Wren Hall and the families who placed their trust in us.
“Handing over the reins has been one of the hardest decisions of my life. But it’s the right one. Wren Hall needs reinvestment and fresh energy to carry on delivering exceptional care for future generations.
“I’m absolutely confident that Patrick and Lucy Atkinson of Church Farm Care share our values and vision. They understand what makes Wren Hall special and I know they will nurture its legacy while taking it to the next level.
“Throughout this process, I have been incredibly grateful for the expertise and support of Roger Harcourt and his team at Shakespeare Martineau. They not only guided us with professionalism and care but truly understood the emotional weight of this transition. Their support has made all the difference.”
Church Farm Care Ltd operates four care homes across Nottinghamshire and shares Wren Hall’s ethos of building close-knit, inclusive communities.
Each of its locations is designed to feel like home and prioritises compassion, independence and living well – values that align with Wren Hall’s philosophy of care.
The sale was facilitated by Shakespeare Martineau, with Roger Harcourt, corporate partner, leading the deal.
Roger said: “Wren Hall is an extraordinary care home, not just in terms of outcomes and reputation, but in its deep-rooted culture of love, purpose and innovation. Anita has done an amazing job in creating an outstanding home. Supporting her and her family through this emotional and momentous transition has been an honour.
“We are confident Church Farm Care will build on this remarkable legacy and ensure Wren Hall continues to lead the way in nursing and dementia care.”
The Shakespeare Martineau team also included Emma Ali (commercial property) and Renee Freeman (corporate).
