Families, friends, and members of the local community gathered alongside the residents, who were thrilled to welcome everyone to their first annual tradition. With the local Cub Scouts joining in, the atmosphere was filled with the energy and laughter of all ages.

Guests warmed up with steaming mugs of hot chocolate, while delicious hot dogs were served fresh off the grill, bringing classic Bonfire Night flavours to the festivities. For the little ones (and the young at heart), sparklers lit up the night as people gathered around in small groups, watching their names and shapes sparkle in the air.

One of the favourite activities of the night was the marshmallow toasting, residents and guests alike had fun gathering around the fire pit, carefully toasting marshmallows to their preferred level of gooey perfection. There were plenty of laughs as everyone shared tips on getting the best toast without catching their marshmallows on fire!

The "Judge the Guy" competition added a spirited and creative touch to the evening. Residents had been hard at work crafting their very own Guy Fawkes effigy, which were proudly displayed for all to see. Each "Guy" had its own unique look, reflecting the creativity and humour of the designers. The competition was judged by some of the community members and, of course, the Cub Scouts, who enjoyed picking the most memorable "Guy" of the evening. Once the judging was complete, the winning "Guy" was ceremonially placed atop the bonfire and set alight in a thrilling display of flames and cheers.

The bonfire itself was the grand centrepiece, illuminating the night with warmth and crackling energy as everyone gathered around to share stories and enjoy the comforting atmosphere. The flames danced and reflected off happy faces, bringing a homelike warmth that made everyone feel like part of the Cherry Blossom family.

Overall, the evening was a resounding success, blending cherished Bonfire Night traditions with the welcoming, inclusive spirit of Cherry Blossom. The event not only brought joy and entertainment to everyone involved but also reinforced the care home’s commitment to fostering a connected, supportive community for its residents.
