Fixed seat rowing is a traditional form of rowing where the rower sits on a fixed bench (alongside another 3/4 rowers) and uses their body strength and technique to propel the boat through local waters. It is a great way to get fit, irrespective of age. It improves body strength and co-ordination and because it is a social sport it supports mental health, providing a great way to de-stress and re-charge.
Anyone can take part, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced rower. We offer introductory rows led by our experienced rowers and then introduce our newer members to crews where support continues through leisure rows that take place at least twice a week throughout the year.
We launch in the dark if you fancy and adventure and in the summer we can be seen having coffee on Swords Sands.
For the more competitive members, we train and take part in local and regional competitions but for most of us it's about getting out on the water, enjoy the wildlife and dark skies.
In the rowing section at Tudor we have members aged between 20 and 80 years of age and we like to think we can offer something for everyone. We have our own club boats that can be hired out to crews but we also have a group of generous private boat owners who take individuals out on the water.
The club is located on your doorstep at the northern reaches of Langstone Harbour and of course offers much more than rowing - we are good at having fun off the water as well with a strong social scene.
Whether you are looking to improve your fitness, make new friends or simply want to enjoy the outdoors, we would love to welcome you and your family aboard.
Don't wait - take the first step and contact us today. Visit our website at Tudor Sailing Club and contact the rowing section for more information. The waters of Langstone Harbour are calling, your rowing adventure awaits!
