The report paints a picture of a school where through ambitious leadership "pupils feel safe and supported" and "enjoy learning both in lessons and through the wide range of additional clubs on offer."
A significant highlight from the report is the positive relationships within the school community. Inspectors observed that "pupils say that their teachers are kind and supportive". Furthermore, "parents and carers are positive about the school" with several stating "how well the teachers support their children.”
The report commends the school's clear vision and high expectations, stating that "leaders at all levels demonstrate a clear vision for the school. They have high expectations. As a result, pupils’ outcomes are at least in line with their peers nationally." The report also praised leaders' focus on developing teachers' expertise through a variety of professional development centred on pupil engagement, which is effectively put into practice ensuring that “lesson discussions are lively, vibrant and purposeful”.
Improvements made since the last inspection in key areas such as reading and mathematics were also acknowledged. The report states, "Improvements have been made across the school in supporting reading and mathematics since the last inspection." The well-embedded phonics scheme and effective support for pupils needing extra help in reading were specifically mentioned.
The "quality of the provision for pupils with SEND" was recognised as a particular strength of the school, with inspectors noting “teachers know their pupils well” and ensure clear, personalised strategies are in place. The positive start children get in the early years was also highlighted, noting that "the children are happy and can talk about their learning through a variety of purposeful activities" due to a clear curriculum focus and effective staff interactions.
