Long-time supporters of The Mary Stevens Hospice Amanda Mortimer and Jodie Mondon, who run Hagley Café opposite, officially opened the store with a ribbon-cutting.
Shop manager Lisa Sidaway, said: “We're absolutely thrilled with the turnout today! It's been wonderful to see so many people from the community come out to support us and grab some fantastic bargains, all whilst supporting hospice care."
The opening was well attended, with shoppers turning up early to find a bargain on men’s and women’s clothing, bric-a-brac and books, and the earliest customers left the store with a goodie bag. The hospice’s Ice Cream Trike was also on site to hand out refreshments to shoppers.
Gail Phillips, Retail Area Manager for the hospice said: “The support we've received from the Hagley community has been incredible. Every purchase made and every item donated directly contributes to funding the palliative care services we provide at the hospice.
"We're so grateful to everyone who came out today and to our amazing volunteers”.
The shop is located at 99 Worcester Road, Hagley DY9 0NG, and is open from 9am until 4pm. The store is currently looking for volunteers to help throughout the week, and anyone interested should email hagley@marystevenshospice.co.uk.
The Mary Stevens Hospice now has fifteen shops throughout the West Midlands, including locations such as Stourbridge, Bridgnorth, Kingswinford, and Dudley. Profits from the stores help to fund palliative care at the hospice.
