Midlands couple launch swim school

Local couple Lisa and Chris Traves have taken the exciting step to launch swim school Puddle Ducks Birmingham, providing swimming lessons for babies, toddlers, and pre-school children up to the age of four.

The couple, who have been married for 17 years and are parents to two children, are former Puddle Ducks customers and it was through this experience that they fell in love with the brand. This led to Lisa, who is originally from Grimsby and worked as a pensions actuary for 20 years, leaving her career to embark on a new venture with her husband Chris, a former police officer for 22 years, born and bred in Solihull.

Lisa commented: “I have always liked the idea of running my own business and loved the whole approach to swimming lessons that Puddle Ducks provide, so after seeing an article about a nearby Puddle Ducks territory opening in Coventry, I felt compelled to look into the opportunity.”

Chris added: “I used to go to Puddle Ducks with our son every week, it was such a special time together, a really wonderful bonding experience that will stay with me forever. Not only does Puddle Ducks teach a lifelong skill, but the precious time we spent together really made it the highlight of my week. It made total sense to provide this experience to other local families”.

Puddle Ducks Birmingham has been running classes at the Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport since February, teaching baby and pre-school classes on Thursdays and Sundays. In the last couple of weeks, they have launched additional lessons, on Tuesday and Friday mornings, at the Morris Centre in Edgbaston. The couple is looking to expand their offering at these pools over the coming months, as well as looking for opportunities to run classes at other pools in the Birmingham and North Solihull areas. They are also planning to offer Swim Academy Classes (for children 5-10 years of age) and Aquanatal classes in the near future.

Puddle Ducks Birmingham is looking for teachers and assistants to join their growing team and help expand their offering.
