But this isn't just any skydive. Emily’s father, Laurence Labhart, who died in 2005, was a passionate skydiver himself - competing internationally as part of a Skydiving Formation Team. Now, two decades later, Emily is honouring that legacy by doing what her dad loved most: soaring through the air.
“Skydiving was a huge part of my Dad’s life,” said Emily. “He was fearless in the sky and made lifelong friends through the sport. I wanted to do something that would not only pay tribute to his adventurous spirit, but also raise money for a cause that affects so many people.”
Multiple Sclerosis is a neurological condition that affects over 130,000 people in the UK. The MS Society UK funds groundbreaking research and provides crucial support to those living with the condition and their families.
With the jump now just days away, Emily has already surpassed her £500 fundraising target—but she’s not stopping there. Every extra pound raised will help the MS Society continue its vital work, and Emily is determined to make as big an impact as possible. The skydive will take place at Tilstock Airfield in Whitchurch, Shropshire - one of the very places her dad used to train - making the moment even more meaningful. She’s also promised to share video footage of the big leap, no matter how nervous she looks mid-air!
“I’m not expecting to look as cool as Dad did up there,” she laughs, “but I’m doing this with him in mind every step of the way. I know he’d be proud.”
