Leigh Ingham MP launches free summer school for local young people – and applications are open now

Leigh Ingham MP has announced the launch of a brand-new free Summer School for young people in Years 11, 12, and 13, taking place in Stafford from Monday 14 July to Friday 18 July 2025. At the Summer School, local young people will develop their leadership abilities, learn campaigning and social action skills, build an understanding on the role of an MP, and get behind the scenes access into how Parliament operates.

Leigh Ingham MP has announced the launch of a brand-new free Summer School for young people in Years 11, 12, and 13, taking place in Stafford from Monday 14th July to Friday 18th July 2025. At the Summer School, local young people will develop their leadership abilities, learn campaigning and social action skills, build an understanding on the role of an MP, and get behind the scenes access into how Parliament operates.

The Politics Summer School will give young people aged 16-19 the opportunity to work with Leigh Ingham MP to gain a real-life experience of politics in action, as well as help develop leadership and campaign skills to make a difference in their local community.

The Summer School will include four days of classroom-based sessions, plus a visit to Parliament and will culminate with an awards ceremony and showcase of the projects young people have created over the course of the week.

The free trip to Parliament will offer participants a unique, behind-the-scenes look at how democracy operates, and the role MPs play in shaping the country’s future. There are several high-profile speakers lined up including MPs, Ministers and Lords.

Leigh Ingham, MP for Stafford, Eccleshall, and the villages, said: “I’ve put my heart and soul into making this Summer School amazing, as I’m passionate about our young people – broadening horizons, raising aspirations, and creating a truly empowering experience.
