From early years tots to sixth formers, they learned about the significance of the historic occasion and reflected on the sacrifice made by service personnel and civilians during the Second World War.
At Stourport Primary Academy, the children tied red ribbons to the school railings in remembrance of those who gave their lives for our freedom, played 1940s games, such as hula hoop, and tucked into a picnic in the sunshine.
Pupils at Far Forest Lea Memorial CE Primary Academy also enjoyed a picnic lunch seated around tables set out in the shape of VE, thanks to support from the PTA.
Stourport High School’s recently-formed choir, VOX, performed at the town’s VE Day Celebration at the War Memorial Park and there was more singing at Hartlebury CE Primary School as pupils, dressed in the period, entertained their families with a medley of wartime songs.
At Wilden All Saints CE Primary School, pupils wore red, white and blue and enjoyed dancing and music on the playground while children at St Bartholomew’s CE Primary School, Areley Kings, had special lessons and activities, including decorating jars as tea-light holders, as they learned about the anniversary and remembered those who died in the war.
