Local opticians putting best foot forward for charity

Colleagues at two local opticians are gearing up to take part in the Royal Sutton Fun Run, alongside sponsoring the event for the 12th year running.

Specsavers’ sister stores Mere Green and Sutton Coldfield, which are locally owned and run, will be joining in the fun on Sunday, June 1 to raise money for the Cancer Support Centre.

‘We’re delighted to be supporting the Sutton Fun Run once again,’ Andrew Pennicott, store director at the sister stores, comments. ‘It’s always a brilliant event that so many get involved in to raise money for charity.

‘As a team, we chose to run for the Centre again this year and we hope the money we raise will help them continue the work they do.’

The fun run, which is now in its 43rd year, follows an 8.5-mile route through the town and participants can either walk or run their way around. The 22-person team will be supported by a Specsavers’ home visits car that will lead the runners round.

‘Any and all donations are welcome and although we know times continue to be tough, we’d be really grateful to anyone who is able to donate.’

The Cancer Support Centre was founded in 2001 and helps people and their loved ones living with cancer. To find out more visit  https://suttoncancersupport.org/.
