Two young basketball standouts with deep Wolverhampton roots, Denaya-Jade (DJ) Anderson and Honour Dunkley, recently returned triumphant from the prestigious Home Nations Invitational Tournament in Manchester, representing the England U15 Girls’ Basketball Team. Denaya-Jade is the daughter of Douaine Anderson, Director of Team Wolverhampton SLAM! Basketball Club, while Honour is the daughter of Spencer Dunkley – the only player from the Midlands ever to be drafted into the NBA. Both girls are continuing a proud legacy of basketball excellence. Although born in Delaware, USA, Honour boasts strong family ties to Wolverhampton, where her father was born and raised.

Spencer Dunkley added: “Honour has worked tirelessly to reach this level, and seeing her success alongside DJ is fantastic. These girls represent the bright future of English basketball, and Wolverhampton should be immensely proud.”

Their achievements stand as a powerful source of inspiration for the next generation of players across the region and are a testament to the vibrant basketball culture being nurtured in Wolverhampton.

The journey continues as the England U15 Girls prepare for a summer tour in Montenegro, where they will compete against some of Europe’s top club teams. The team will also take part in the highly anticipated Jr. NBA International Tournament in Valencia, Spain later this summer, offering another major opportunity for these talented young athletes to shine on the global stage.
