Fraser is taking on the London Marathon to raise money for Surrey's air ambulance

On Sunday 27 April a team of 15 runners from Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) will be taking part in the iconic London Marathon, to raise vital funds for the lifesaving charity.

Fraser Keirs is running for KSS after an air ambulance crew cared for his dad following a serious road traffic collision

Fraser Keirs, from Camberley, has a very personal connection with the charity: “I’m running to raise vital funds for KSS after they cared for my dad when he was involved in a serious road traffic accident. The one word that I believe truly sums KSS up is lifesavers! Without their support and attending my dad’s accident the outcome could have been very different. The more I can raise for this fantastic cause the better!

“I’d like to think I’ve got a little bit of experience with running coming from a triathlon background. However, marathon training is a completely different level both physically and mentally! I’ve had my fair share of illness and niggles over the last eight weeks but am absolutely buzzing to be on the start line. Everyone I have spoken to has said how amazing it is, and I get goosebumps every time I think of the finish. It will most definitely be one of the highlights of my life so far, no matter how it goes on the day!”

Lola Inge, KSS Running and Challenge Manager, commented:

“We are so grateful to everyone taking on the London Marathon and it has been incredibly inspiring to hear from the runners taking part for KSS about their personal reasons for taking on this unique challenge to raise vital funds for our lifesaving charity.

“If you’ve been inspired by any of our wonderful runners and would like to challenge yourself while raising money to support your local air ambulance, please let us know. Whatever your age, experience or background, there’s a challenge that’s right for you and we would love to help you find it and support you as you take it on!”
