The visit offered a day of discovery and nostalgia. For many residents, the Royal Family has been a cherished presence throughout their lives. To walk through the halls of such an iconic landmark was both moving and meaningful.
The Burlington’s team worked closely with the castle to plan the visit as part of their wider Life Enrichment Programme, which focuses on creating personalised experiences that honour each resident’s interests and memories.
Among those taking part was Mrs Emrys-Roberts, who grew up visiting Windsor Castle. “I used to love visiting the castle as a child,” she said. “Today has really made me happy—I can’t wait to tell my family I’ve been back.” Fellow resident Mrs Andrews added, “This is such an important part of history. I’m so lucky to have been invited.”
The day wasn’t just about sightseeing—it was a chance for residents to reconnect with the past, share stories, and enjoy something truly special. For those living with dementia, the visit also provided valuable opportunities for reminiscence, one of many ways Boutique Care Homes supports cognitive wellbeing through meaningful activity.
Sarah Burt, Head of Lifestyle and Activities at The Burlington, commented: “These moments are what our care is all about. Whether it’s reliving a childhood memory or simply enjoying a beautiful space, these experiences enhance wellbeing and create joy. That’s what we mean by care so good, it’s unexpected.”
