Soren a resident at Wykeham House has always been interested in football and is a keen supporter of rival team Crystal Palace. Despite the two teams being well known for their conflicts in leagues Soren was keen to go to the new built Amex Stadium. He said it had always been of interest to him to see what the stadium was like.
Rachel the Life Enrichment lead at Wykeham House began arrangements in February to make Soren’s comments a reality. Working with the team it was decided Rachel and Nick from the maintenance team would get Soren to a game!
Rachel said: “It is always lovely to hear what interests our residents have and to make sure even little suggestions are followed up on. Soren has fond memories of the atmosphere at football games and wanted to give the Amex a go. We definitely got the best of the weather and we enjoyed the game.”
Rachel, Soren and Nick headed off on the minibus on April 12 to the Amex stadium. It was an exciting day for all as none of them had ever been before.
Soren, said: “I am so grateful that I got the chance to go and enjoy the atmosphere of a football match again. It was a good game but hopefully won’t make much difference to Palace’s place in the league.”
