Adelaide House Care Home, run by HC-One, located in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, welcomed visitors and guests from the local community to participate in this year’s Care Home Open Week celebrations, held from Monday 16th June until Sunday 22nd June 2025.

Care Home Open Week, hosted by Championing Social Care, is a national initiative designed to connect care homes with their local communities. The week offers care homes the opportunity to showcase their services, provide tours of their facilities, and highlight the wide range of activities offered to residents. It also serves as a reminder that care homes are an integral part of the community, offering support, companionship, and connection.

HC-One’s theme this year, ‘The Big Summer Weekender’, evoked the nostalgic joy of traditional British summer holidays, and culminated in a lively and colourful celebration at Adelaide House.

Adelaide House welcomed residents, colleagues, friends, family, and members of the wider community to a fun-filled party.

Residents of Adelaide House were thrilled to be joined by students and staff from Ashley Park School, whose visit brought joy and connection across generations. Guests were then treated to a dazzling performance by Rah Rah Theatre Company, who entertained with their lively Rock Around the Clock show – a highlight of the day that had everyone singing and smiling. The home looks forward to welcoming the troupe back in August for their ABBA special: Thank You for the Music!

The festivities continued with a delicious lunch, prepared by the home's talented kitchen team, with a spread enjoyed by all – topped off perfectly with refreshing Pimms and Lemonade in the sunshine.

Adelaide House was beautifully adorned with summer-themed decorations, enhancing the nostalgic feel of holidays gone by and creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors old and new. Alongside the fun, guests had the opportunity to learn more about life at the home, hear from colleagues about careers in care, and explore opportunities to engage as volunteers within the home.

Slawomir Janik, HC-One’s Adelaide House Care Home Manager, said:

“Care Home Open Week is such an important event for us – it’s a chance to open our doors and bring the community in to see the incredible work we do every day. The party was a huge success and the performances and activities brought so much joy to residents and visitors alike. We were especially pleased to showcase our beautiful facilities and share the warmth and vibrancy of life at Adelaide House.”
