Speedy self-service comes to Primark Eastbourne

Primark in The Beacon now boasts a range of Self-Checkout tills on the ground floor and first floor. The new operating system means a faster experience for customers and represents one of the biggest modernisation programmes that the anchor store has seen.

Assistant Manager Steve Allan said initial customer feedback had been very positive. “We had a week-long soft launch at the end of January and this went very well. Customers enjoyed the faster turn-around, with smaller queues and happy shoppers.

“The team that ran the manual checkouts have now been assigned to other duties in the store, making sure the customer experience is our priority,” Steve said.

There are five Self-Checkout tills on the ground floor, alongside five staff-operated tills. And on the first floor, all five of the tills are now Self-Checkout

The Eastbourne store is one of the first in the south east to be modernised with the new Self-Checkout system.

The Beacon General Manager Mark Powell welcomed the investment in the store. “Primark continues to trade well and I am delighted that the company has invested in this new system at its Eastbourne branch.
