This is a ‘family friendly’ marshalled bike ride from Western Lawns to Princes Park and back. It is organised, once again, by Bespoke Cycle Group and this is will be the 5th such event. There is even a free bike decorating workshop starting at 10am beforehand and perhaps bring a picnic for afterwards. Last time there were nearly 200 people who attended the event
‘Kidical Mass is an international movement united by the vision that children and young people should be able to move around safely and independently on foot and by bike’. Unfortunately, much of Eastbourne has poor infrastructure, that does not allow such ‘active travel’ options to and from school.
So if you want children to be able to cycle around town, then come and join in or turn up to support the ride. It is not just here, as many other local towns such as Brighton and Hastings, hold similar events during the year.
This route is partly chosen to demonstrate the need for a cycle route along the seafront. Eastbourne being currently out of step with the other towns and cities on the South Coast.
In order to keep everyone together balance bikes and kick-scooters are not suitable to cover the route otherwise any type of cycle would be welcome. If you want further information there will be updates, closer to the date, on the Bespoke Cycle website (https://bespokecyclegroup.org.uk/) and Facebook
