Lewes Town Crier, Jon Borthwic, says, "Sussex Day is an important celebration for the town, reminding us of our commitment as people of Sussex to look after our land and our people as part of the traditional Sussex Charter. It’s also a reminder to all who listen that Sussex Wunt be Druv! I have wanted to reinstate a proper commemoration of Sussex Day in the County Town of Lewes and I hope that this year’s event is really special and the start of an annual tradition."

Councillor Wendy Maples, Chair of Lewes Town Council’s Communications and Engagement Committee says, "We are so grateful to our wonderful Town Crier and want to shout out our thanks for all the good things he does for the town, all year round. We hope lots of people will join us on the Cliffe Bridge, to celebrate Sussex Day and our Town Crier."

The Mayor of Lewes, Councillor Emily Clarke, is expected to offer the Town Crier a thank you basket of local goodies, provided by local shops and services and town councillors.

Councillor Clarke says "I’m looking forward to our Town Crier celebrating Sussex and our town in his inimitable way and to taking this opportunity to show our thanks."
