The County Council recently approached parish and town councils, offering to hold SLR meetings twice a year with the overall purpose of "enabling effective communication between Parishes and East Sussex Highways."
At the meetings, representatives from East Sussex Highways and the Town Council will discuss a range of issues, including the condition of roads, pavements and public footpaths, as well as parking, speeding and other related issues.
Councillors Paul Holbrook, Anne Marie Ricketts, Mary Laxton, Colin Mitchell and Kelly-Marie Blundell-Smith will represent the Town Council at the SLR meetings.
An initial meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday 6th May and the Town Council will agree items to discuss prior to the date. The outcome of the SLR meeting will be reported to the next meeting of Full Council to be held on Wednesday 26th May.
"East Sussex Highways, along with several other local authorities and organisations, benefit from maintaining effective partnerships with the Town Council," said Town Mayor Cllr Paul Holbrook. "By attending the SLR meetings, Town Council representatives can be kept up-to-date with the actions and future plans relating to the town's road and public walkways, discuss and find out more about Highways' plans and scheduled repairs, and relay any concerns put forward by local residents."
"I'm glad the Town Council will be represented at the meetings, as this clearly highlights our commitment to fostering collaboration and effective communication among all stakeholders for the benefit of the parish, its residents, businesses, and visitors."
