Beacon Academy appoints new student leadership team

Beacon Academy is delighted to announce the recent appointment of the school’s 2025 Student Leadership Team.

The team of Year 10 students have now taken up their positions at the Crowborough school until the end of the year.

The team of Year 10 students, which comprises head and deputy head students, senior prefects and prefects, have now taken up their positions at the Crowborough school until the end of the year. At that point, a new Student Leadership Team will be selected for 2026.

In order to gain a place on the team, students were invited to make a formal application for the roles with a letter of application. Those who were successful were interviewed by key members of school staff, and asked to give a short presentation about a project they would like to deliver whilst in role. Students pitched a range of ideas, ranging from methods of support for students who are struggling, community projects that would create belonging at Beacon, and how to create an inclusive voting system for student involvement.

The team will work alongside the school’s student council and members of staff to provide a voice for the student body, and to address any concerns and share ideas that may arise through regular workshops and drop-in clinics during break and lunch time. The team will also liaise with key members of teaching and support staff at the Academy, depending on the focus of their role.

The Academy’s Head of Personal Development, Ms Richardson, said: “In their newly appointed roles, all of the students will have the opportunity to develop confidence, resilience and independence through public speaking, mentoring and taking part in events. They will work alongside the Academy Council to give a voice to the student body. The team will also liaise with key members of teaching and support staff at the Academy, depending on the focus of their role. We would like to congratulate the students and look forward to working alongside them over the year.”
