More updates on the exciting two new, crucial banking hubs coming to us in East Grinstead town and Uckfield town centre. I organised an update meeting this week with the organisers to discuss locations, services, cash access, opening times and more. I also raised the issue of parking charges in East Grinstead imposed by the Lib Dem run council when choosing a suitable location, as I know this is a huge issue for residents who are deciding to go elsewhere. It’s detrimental to our high streets and hard-working businesses and won’t be drawing in visitors and tourists, it’ll be pushing them away and already is, as I’ve been informed by residents telling me they’re going to different towns with free parking. I also raised the idea of partnering with the Police in East Grinstead for the possibility of a shared location for the banking hub and the access to the police station, as I know this is also a critical issue for residents. I’ll be launching a survey on my website to gather views on locations, services needed, opening hours, and more which I’ll share with the team.
It was ‘Wear A Hat Day’ for Brain Tumour Research Day - raising awareness of brain tumours and their symptoms. I met again with a brilliant and inspiring local East Grinstead resident, mum, and nurse, Holly, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour and lists the important symptoms to look out for on my website. We've been working together for a while and soon will be having a fundraising event soon I hope-watch this space! I'm pleased to be on the parliamentary all-party group for Brain Tumours highlighting Holly’s story and the changes needed.
I’m thrilled to confirm my next ‘Meet Mims’ event which will be in Turners Hill on Thursday 22nd May, 7pm, for residents to join and ask any questions on the work I do for them as an MP and to raise any concerns they have on our local area. My aim is to be out and about across our wonderful constituency and its particularly nice in the better weather and lighter days! I’m also making plans for another ‘Meet Mims’ in Barcombe, Pease Pottage, as well as more pop-up Supermarket Surgeries. Please subscribe to my newsletter for more information and to book your tickets.
