The Horse & Groom, a celebrated country pub in East Ashling, is proud to announce a new charitable initiative in partnership with Stonepillow, the West Sussex charity providing essential support and accommodation for individuals experiencing homelessness.
Beginning this month, guests at The Horse & Groom will be invited to add a voluntary £1 donation to their bills — with every £1 generously matched by the pub itself. All proceeds will go directly to Stonepillow’s vital services, offering shelter, meals, and long-term support to some of the region’s most vulnerable people.
“At the heart of every good pub is a sense of place and purpose,” said Adam Wilson, General Manager at The Horse & Groom. “We’re not just a destination for food and drink — we’re a part of our community. Stonepillow’s work touches lives across West Sussex, and we’re proud to play a role in supporting their mission.”
This initiative comes during a moment of growing recognition for The Horse & Groom, which was recently named runner-up in the ‘One to Watch’ category at the prestigious Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs Awards — highlighting its commitment to culinary excellence and community leadership.
Lady Eloise Gordon Lennox, Patron of Stonepillow, added: "At Stonepillow, we rely on the compassion and commitment of our local communities. This generous initiative by The Horse & Groom not only raises much-needed funds but also sends a powerful message of solidarity and care. Partnerships like these — deeply rooted in community spirit — are essential to helping us bring dignity, hope, and real change to those we support.”
Since its recent rejuvenation, The Horse & Groom has established itself as a favourite for discerning diners and locals alike, recognised for its seasonal menus, warm hospitality, and commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.
Guests are warmly invited to visit The Horse & Groom and join in supporting Stonepillow through this simple but meaningful initiative.
