Barratt David Wilson Homes donates £50,000 to Bosham community projects

Leading housebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes has donated more than £50,000 into a range of projects in Bosham as part of its community programme.

Leading housebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes has donated more than £50,000 into a range of projects in Bosham as part of its community programme.

Bosham Primary, Bosham Cricket Club and Old Bridge Meadows were just some of the local organisations that have received money from the housebuilder as work at its Highgrove development gets underway.

At local beauty spot, Old Bridge Meadow, a team of volunteers from Barratt helped to clear the area and make it suitable for wildlife. The housebuilder then donated £5,000 to its community arm, Friends of Old Bridge Meadow, to help with maintenance and additional planting.

Barratt’s volunteers then got stuck into a project at St Nicholas Church Hall in the village, to make improvements to the space. This included landscaping the back garden area and building raised planters in a project worth well over £10,000, turning it into a safe and usable outdoor area for the whole community to enjoy.

As well as Bosham Primary, Barratt has been funding other opportunities to help young people and other educational facilities in the village. Bosham Crossfit received £8,000 towards its schools programme to help get more people into activities and sports, and the Samaritans of Bosham received £2,000 towards their workshops promoting good mental health.

Lou Callaghan, Operations Manager at CrossFit Bosham said: “We’re incredibly grateful for the support from Barratt David Wilson Homes. The donation means we can expand our schools programme and reach more young people across the community, as well as help them develop an interest and encourage them into healthy exercise. We’re also hoping to use the funding to extend services to older age groups that are less mobile and helping them to be more active.”

Megan Hamlyn, Marketing Manager at Barratt David Wilson Homes Southampton division, said: “All in all, the total given to good causes in Bosham is coming in at more than £50,000.

“Barratt’s pledge is to help improve the communities in which we build and the company has a long-term commitment to supporting local organisations and improving public spaces.

"We are proud to play our part in strengthening the Bosham community, not just with financial support, but with hands-on help through our team of volunteers too. These projects and organisations make a real difference to local residents and we are delighted to support their continued growth and success."

Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes are building developments across West Sussex, including Highgrove in Bosham, Nursery Fields in North Bersted, Fossil Bay in Bracklesham and Sylvan Meadows in Arundel.
