Expect to see many of our wonderful county’s highlights celebrated, such as its rich history – Arundel Castle, Bluebell Railway and Fishbourne Roman Palace; its rural idylls – glorious coastline, the Southdowns National Park and Knepp Rewilding; its science and sporting triumphs – Sir Tim Peake, Horsham Football Club and cricketing milestones; and much more!
Bring your best dance moves as local drumming band Boom Tribe, Brighton School of Samba and the Kings of Dhol will be bringing their infectious carnival vibes to the streets of Horsham once more.
Parade organiser Aleida Strowger, Founder of Community Arts Organisation, Happy Accidents, said:
“Sussex is a great county to live in, with so much going on, especially for families, so we thought it was well worthy of being celebrated through the project. The theme also provides lots of interesting ideas for the children to connect with whether that’s Winnie the Pooh from Ashdown Forest, the Sea Life Centre in Brighton, car racing at Goodwood or our very own Dragon at St Leonards Forest, the Horshamasaurus and Horsham Football Club.
“At every parade since 2019, we have been blown away by the high level of creativity, imagination and enthusiastic shown by the children, teachers and TAs at each of the participating district schools and are extremely excited to see what this year brings!
“None of this would be possible without the amazing team at community arts organisation, Same Sky, who work hard to ensure that this is a well-organised, fun and inspiring event for the whole community to enjoy.
“Each year it gets more difficult to raise the funds to make this joyous event happen and we are eternally grateful for our amazing supporters who made it possible for another year. Massive thanks to our grant givers, Arts Council England and Horsham District Community Lottery. We are especially proud that Horsham’s community voted for us to win a Horsham District Council People’s Budget grant and are delighted too that childcare provider Rocketeers returned as our headline sponsor and Saxon Weald as a Parade Star sponsor.”
Ciara Keene, Business Director at Rocketeers Childcare – "We're immensely proud to be the headline sponsor of Horsham Children’s Parade for the second year running. We are excited to be part on this occasion as it celebrates the communities we serve and that ignites the imagination of local children in such a big way!"
The parade will start at 11am in Denne Road and end at 12noon in Horsham Park where it will mark the opening of the Rotary Club’s Funday Sunday, and is FREE TO WATCH!
