Pavilion won five of the six games of triples on the indoor rinks and drew the sixth on Wednesday, March 26, registering an aggregate victory of 131 shots to 64.
Top rink went to Pat Edmonds, Jonathan Gauntlett and skip John Winkley, who took all but two of the 18 ends against John Wilson's triple, scoring everything from singles to a six in winning 36-3.
Allan Banks, Geoff Pratt and skip Richard Krupa were also in dominant form on the captains' rink, defeating Jim Raggett's triple 23-6. The home team led by only three shots at halfway before they scored four twos, a three and a four to stretch well clear.
Rosemary Lewer, Mike Spinks and skip Ken Chapman trailed four times in the first 10 ends of a topsy-turvy game against Barbara Edge's triple. A five on the 11th turned the tide in Pavilion's favour and they dropped only three more shots in the closing stages, eventually winning 23-15.
David Gilbert, Ted Jessep and skip Bryan Bodicoat also needed to respond to a strong challenge from Trevor Parker's triple. Norfolk moved two shots clear after seven ends but Pavilion took the next five to lead by eight. Their rivals cut the deficit to four before Pavilion took the last two ends with singles and won 17-11.
Alan Cheeseman, Gerry Shallis and skip Warwick Davis were involved in a low-scoring game against Brian Phillips's rink, with neither team able to gain more than a single on most ends. The exception was a three for Pavilion on the sixth. Two doubles on the 16th and 17th ends gave them a four-shot advantage and helped to cement a 14-11 victory.
Linda Carter, Terry Edmondson and skip David Berry scored a four and a six to go 11-3 up after five ends against Peter Slade's rink. Pavilion were 10 shots clear with eight ends to play and looking good for a clean sweep until Norfolk hit back. A three narrowed the gap before a four on the last end gave them a share of the spoils from an 18-18 draw.
