Thanks to a donation of £9,960 from the charitable arm of the supermarket, TBCC have been able to refurbish their new facility that provides social activities and support to isolated older people from across Gateshead.
Michelle Scott, Project Development Coordinator at TBCC said: “We are incredibly grateful to the Morrisons Foundation.
“With the generous grant we have received, we will be able to make our new home fully accessible, so we can continue to provide our lunch clubs, men's groups, hot meals and activities.
“Our mission to combat isolation is as important as ever, and the funding will help us continue to serve older people in our community for many years to come in a welcoming, safe and inclusive space."
David Scott, Morrisons Foundation Trustee said: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to provide this vital support to such a wonderful cause in our community.
“Being able to provide care, meals and activities to older people who would otherwise not have any opportunity for social engagement really does make a huge difference to their lives and overall wellbeing. I’m very proud that the Morrisons Foundation has been able to help refurbish TBCC’s new home.”
The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives. Since launching, over £45 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
