NE planners expand operations further with Nottinghamshire wind turbine planning approval

North East planning specialist Hedley Planning continues to achieve strong growth for its renewable energy services after securing approval for a new wind turbine scheme.

An example of the three-bladed Vestas wind turbine Hedley Planning has secured approval for on land at a farm in Nottinghamshire

Plans by the Northumberland firm will see the current wind turbine on farmland in a Nottinghamshire village, which had suffered storm damage earlier in the year and was no longer capable of generating energy, replaced with a three-bladed Vestas V47 (68.5m tip height).

The project comes as Hedley Planning sees the amount of work it undertakes in the renewable energy sector continue to grow, reflecting landowners who are diversifying agriculture operations with investments that secure the future longevity of their businesses.

Approval for the Vestas turbine, which has been designed for rural homes and farms and comes as the UK continues to face an unprecedented energy crisis, was secured via a Section 73 Application by varying the existing planning condition controlling the previously approved turbine model and height.

Noise and radar assessments were also completed as part of work carried out by the firm, which confirmed the site was suitable for a replacement renewable energy scheme of this type.

Alex Franklin, associate director at Hedley Planning, who oversaw the planning application, said: “We are delighted to have secured approval and look forward to the replacement turbine coming on stream soon.

“We continue to face an energy crisis in the UK, so harnessing the wind can be one of the most efficient ways to supply clean energy for local landowners and homeowners. We continue to see applications coming forward as people look to plug in to greener energy solutions.”

Work on erecting the new wind turbine will start this summer, with the first energy generated by the scheme expected to come on stream this autumn.
