Staff, patients and their families at Teesside Hospice were delighted to receive a donation of £7,641 from the Morrisons Foundation.
The funding from the charitable arm of the supermarket has enabled the hospice to purchase much-needed advanced medical equipment, which is crucial for delivering safe, compassionate, and dignified care to our palliative care patients.
Mike Thornicroft, CEO of Teesside Hospice said: “"We're so grateful to the Morrisons Foundation for providing us with this grant, which will be used to purchase advanced medical equipment that is crucial for delivering safe, compassionate, and dignified care to our palliative care patients.
“It costs almost £18,000 each day to provide our services to patients in need, and only 25% of this is funded by statutory sources - the rest we need to raise ourselves with the help and kindness of donors like the Morrisons Foundation.
“The essential tools we've been able to purchase thanks to the Morrisons Foundation will improve symptom management, ensure patient comfort, and support our dedicated staff in providing the highest quality care, as we carry out our mission of helping people with a terminal illness live as well as possible, for as long as possible."
David Scott, Morrisons Foundation Trustee said: “I’m very proud that we’ve been able to support the vital work of Teesside Hospice. The professional care they provide to patients and their families from around the region is second to none and I’m delighted that the Foundation has been able to help in such a meaningful way.”
The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives. Since launching, over £45 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
