Evie Ranford and Jez Morel who both reside in Walsall have now gone a whole year on the gigging scene. They've built up a good local following and have become a very reputable act on the crowded pub gig circuit.
Evie is finishing her first year at Walsall College and has become a local favourite in and around Walsall and Lichfield.
"She's amazing" said guitarist Jez. "She turns up to send the crowd away with smiles on their faces and she's brilliant at doing that. We see lots of the same faces wherever we go and its very flattering. She's just herself. A hard working young lady with a lovely voice but she'd never tell you that. Since the first gig up until now she's remained a down to earth and humble person and audiences like that."
Jez has known Evie for three years and first noticed how talented she was when her dad Dean shared a video of her singing Riptide.
"I thought she was just moving her lips to the song" Jez said "it was so good it really blew me away."
The two played a few open mic nights before making the jump to pub gigs.
Evie and Jez have played venues across Lichfield and Walsall and have mentioned Vintage Liquid Taphouse, The Whippett, The George and Dragon and Hop Station as a few of their favourites.
"They're all great gigs to be honest" continued Jez, "Our busiest gig was the Kings Head in Lichfield! You couldn't see us over the crowd!"
When asked about the future Jez said: "We'll have to see. Evie has ambitions and wants to go to university. I respect that. She'll go far and will succeed in whatever she does. I'm just blessed to have been a part of this journey. It's been so much fun and I think the best is still yet to come."
When not performing with Evie Jez teaches guitar at Streetly Academy and has been an advocate for young artists for years.
