PANNAL METHODIST CHURCH: Weekly Service at 10am each Sunday. During term time, Table Tennis every Thursday (school room) from 7.30 pm till 9pm. The next film night is on Friday May 2 at 7.30 pm and the next Community Tea is on Tuesday May 13 from 2.30pm to 4pm.

ST MICHAEL AND ALL ANGELS CHURCH – BECKWITHSHAW: Morning Prayer at 9.15am on Tuesdays and the church is open daily for private prayer. Details of services are on the website ( www.stmichaelsbeckwithshaw.org).

PANNAL VILLAGE HALL 'PUB NIGHT':  A reminder that the village hall holds a monthly “pub night” on the last Friday of the month, so the next one is on Friday April 25, open from 8.00 pm to 11.00 pm. As well as a range of competitively priced drinks, it's also the chance to meet up with friends and neighbours.

ST MICHAEL'S HOSPICE GARDEN SPRING CUPPA AND WANDER: On Sunday April 27, from 10am – 1pm at Crimple House, Harrogate. An opportunity for visitors to quietly enjoy the Hospice gardens, have a cuppa and meet the gardeners.Entry is free of charge with donations for refreshments welcome.

THE ARTS SOCIETY – NIDD VALLEY: The series continues on Monday April 28 at 7.30pm at the Christ Church Centre on the Stray with Ashley Gray, a leading specialist and curator in the discipline of Modern Textiles and their history. Ashley works with institutions and foundations on conservation and exhibition projects. The Arts Society Nidd Valley is one of 365 local societies under the umbrella of The Arts Society, a leading arts education charity with a global network of local societies which bring people together through a shared curiosity of the arts. BECKWITHSHAW COFFEE, CAKE AND CONVERSATION MORNINGS: The next 'coffee, cake and conversation morning' will take place on Tuesday April 29 from 10am to 12pm at Beckwithshaw Village Hall.

JOIN HADCA'S PUBLIC LIVING ROOM: On Wednesday 30 April, from 10am – 3pm at Harrogate Community House, 46-50 East Parade. Public living rooms are spaces for people to talk, learn from each other, share experiences and be a bit more human. Horton Housing are creating a public living room space outside Community House where anyone walking along can stop to talk with people from our resident charities and other passers-by, people they may not usually have the opportunity to meet. There will be a gazebo if it’s wet! Go along to see what it’s all about and enjoy a warm drink, biscuit and chat!

PANNAL VILLAGE HALL – HELP NEEDED: A couple of members of the Pannal Village Hall Committee have recently retired so more help is needed to keep the Village Hall running smoothly. This is an interesting and exciting time to build on the hall's strong foundations and attract new activities, including possible regular film nights. If you are interested in helping out with the Committee, or other volunteering opportunities at theVillage Hall, get in touch by email ( pannalvillagehall@gmail.com).

PANNAL VILLAGE HALL - UPGRADED FACILITIES: The Village Hall is part way through its "Community Togetherness" project funded by the National Lottery. The Main Hall now boasts a 4K cine projector for showing high-definition movies and the Function Room now has a 75-inch screen Smart TV for viewing national sporting events, also in high definition. The Main Hall DVD player has been upgraded to Blue Ray HD, and a new sound system mixer is being installed which will enable visitors to use clip-on microphones for speech over video content. Whilst upgrading the digital facilities, past issues with the hearing loop equipment have been resolved!. Next steps are to upgrade the training facilities on the 1st floor rooms as well as extending and upgrading the existing CCTV security system. BEACON LIGHTING – MAY 8: Following a full Parish Council meeting from 6pm - 8pm, the Beacon Lighting VE Day anniversary event at takes place at 8.45pm in St Robert’s church car park. All are invited and will be welcomed for the “usual” liquid refreshments with some music provision.

FAMILY FUN DAY ON PANNAL GREEN – MAY 11: Arrangements are well in-hand for this previously much-enjoyed event which will run from 12pm-5pm. There will be a repeat provision of refreshments such as the Cow Corner Bar, a Bar B Q, pizza, coffee and ice-cream and there will be stalls run by St Michael’s Hospice, Horticap and Yorkshire Air Ambulance. In addition there will be a number of competitive children’s events, including a repeat of the Dog Show, and some new and exciting activities for children and adults alongside the inflatable Bouncy Castle. Get the date in your diary!

ANNUAL PARISH MEETING – MAY 15: The Annual Parish Meeting, to which all are invited, will be held in the Function Room of Pannal Village Hall from 7pm to 9pm. It is anticipated that subjects to be covered will include: the Neighbourhood Plan; North Yorkshire Council’s developing Local Plan and the associated “call for sites” situation. The Parish Council hope to see you there.

LUNCH CLUB AT ST ROBERT'S: The next lunch club will be on Tuesday May 20 in the Chapter House at 12.30pm. For £13 per person, there's a home cooked main course (with veg), dessert and drinks. HELP SHAPE LEARNING IN NORTH YORKSHIRE: Let’s Talk Skills is designed to better understand the kinds of learning which people want to pursue, what challenges they face, and how training and education can be made more accessible to everyone - whether they are returning to work, changing careers or simply looking to try something new. The survey closes on June 9. This (northyorks.gov.uk/news/2025/share-your-views) should throw up the longer link on which to click.

LET'S DANCE: Over 200 people came to Let’s Dance with Dancing for Well-Being at the Yorkshire Pavilions and Angela Rippon (the inspiration for Let's Dance) has since visited Dancing for Well Being in Harrogate. A short video of the Let's Dance event is now available. For anyone who feels inspired to have a go, Dancing for Well-Being runs 12 weekly groups in community venues across the Harrogate district and is welcoming new members.
