Major drive to End Period Poverty with ‘Bring your own’ campaign launch in Wakefield

MP Jade Botterill is set to launch regional campaign at Trinity Walk on 28th May 2025. With 2.8 million people in the UK struggling to afford period products, the campaign launched by TSL Healthcare, will supply local shopping centre with free period products to generate conversation and drive awareness of period poverty.

TSL Healthcare, a local Wakefield-based business, launch their bold new initiative aiming to make period poverty a thing of the past, with local MP Jade Botterill set to kick off the campaign at Trinity Walk shopping centre on Tuesday, 28th May at 11am.

The campaign, titled “Bring Your Own”, aims to raise awareness about the ongoing issue of period poverty – a widespread but often overlooked challenge affecting so many people who are struggling to access or afford essential menstrual products like pads and tampons.

To send a powerful message that no one should have to “bring their own” period products to public spaces, a free dispenser stocked with essential sanitary items, from TSL’s Care & Protect range, will be installed at Trinity Walk.

Jade Botterill, Member of Parliament for Ossett and Denby Dale, who will formally launch the initiative, said: “Too many women and girls are still being forced to make impossible choices between period products and other essentials.

The “Bring Your Own” campaign is about changing that narrative, making it clear that access to period products is not a luxury, but a basic human right.”

Findings from a 2025 survey of 15,000 teachers reveal that most schools are now providing period products to pupils, with one in five teachers say they are covering the cost themselves.

Chris Patterson, Chief Executive of TSL Healthcare, said: “It is unacceptable that 2.8 million people in the UK are struggling to afford period products.

We believe businesses can and should play a role in tackling period poverty, especially in the communities they serve.

Driving awareness, improving education, and ending inequality by ensuring period care products are made accessible to everyone, regardless of socio-economic need.

By launching the campaign at such a central hub in Wakefield, we hope to make a difference to the community and spark a hugely important and long overdue conversation”.

James White, Trinity Walk Centre Manager, said: “This is a brilliant campaign and helps shows people they are not alone.

Hopefully between us we can drive up awareness of the issue of period poverty and help to tackle it together”.

The takeover will see the women’s bathroom cubicles wrapped in campaign messaging at Trinity Walk, leading shoppers to the Care & Protect dispenser offering free, high quality, and sustainable period products.
